To People in Shageluk, environmental health is critical to the survival of not only local animals but survival of ancient traditions and lifestyles that depend on the health of the environment.

During this International Polar Year the students at the Innoko River School have been participating in activities and conducting investigations taking note of bioindicators on the health of our area. Traditional knowledge of plants, animals and weather provide key parts to understanding climate change. This Earth Week we look to our local environment, parents and elders to teach us how to protect our planet.
