In March 2007, our Students, School and Village became part of another University of Alaska funded scientific study involving the data-gathering of our layer of permafrost behind our school.

In February 2008 we had to remove the HOBO data logger components to send in to Dr. Kenji Yoshikawa and his partner Mr. Tohru Saito for downloading. Kenji is responsible for the study. He and Tohru has an outstanding BLOG and website that you can access here that explains more of the permafrost study, their travels across Alaska and other polar countries installing more permafrost tubes.
