Our GLOBE investigations actually cover three separate study sites. This site, "Site A" is our standard comparative study site. We know, based on our knowledge of the trees, moss thickness and growth in the area, that this site has not had any destructive changes on it for at least 100 years. Site A shows Mature Growth Forest, in the tree growth succession scale, and a wide variety of shrubs, new growth hardwoods and a thick herbaceous layer that is connected to a homogeneous larger region of the same growth. "Site C" is another study site that we have chosen showing growth after a 30-year burn.

Site A: September and October, 2007 After the First Snowfall
